Daniel Hirale

Resources of life

My name is Daniel Hirale. I am handicapped but I am strong. I was born in 1993. At the age of two I was stricken with polio. My family thought I had malaria but it was a mistake. We had no money for a doctor so I was left unattended and almost died. In fact, everyone thought I had died, but God was not finished with me and I survived. As I was about to be buried my Grandmother picked me up to carry me to my grave but to her surprise she noticed that my heart was still beating. Everyone was was astonished and gave God the glory for keeping me alive. From that day on I was literally on my knees. The polio had paralysed my leg muscles. I did not give up hope. Instead I continued to try and let nothing keep me from living. Even though my family did not feel that I could do the things that others did, I was convined that I could. After a time I found work making leather goods such a shoes, purses, belts and wallets. This good fortune made it possible for me to pay my rent and continue my studies. I love school. I have learned a great deal and want to continue on to get my degrees and graduate from the university. Many people have helped me and believe in me because I never give up, even when things are hard. I have learned that life can be good if I keep going and keep trying. God is with me and His love has made me a better person. I have started a ministry for people with disabilities so that others like me can learn and know that they to are able to succeed if they will only try.
